1928-29 Catalogue

For the very first time, the audition age is set. It is to be ‘not over 30’ and auditionees must now demonstrate the ability to sight read. Also added: a good ear and a good sense of rhythm. Photos of Philadelphia Orchestra’s wind soloists are finally included; Tabuteau’s photograph will be seen in only one additional catalogue, that for the season  1931-32, and in that catalogue he is the only solo wind player from the Philadelphia Orchestra so presented. He will be seen on a page with the principal players of the 1st violin, viola, and cello sections.
