Tabuteau: Name Derivation

Paskal Tabuteau reports:

This surname is related to the Old French verb, tabuter meaning to quarrel; therefore, a Tabuteau was somebody who liked quarreling.

The noun tabut and the verb tabutal, also from the Old French, are still alive in Breton (a Celtic language spoken in French Brittany) and have the meanings argument and to argue respectively.
