28-Page Booklet for the Philadelphia Orchestra’s

First Transcontinental Tour

The Philadelphia Orchestra’s first transcontinental tour across America took place from April 13th to May 18th in 1936. It was a highly publicized event sponsored by RCA Victor Company.  The informative 28 page booklet shown below announces the 8000 mile tour of ‘Stokowski and the Philadelphia Orchestra.’ Tabuteau is pictured on page 13 with the caption: ‘The woodwind section is especially proud of MARCEL TABUTEAU, one of the world’s best oboe players, and the Orchestra’s finest cook.’ Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 was performed at certain concerts with Tabuteau featured as one of the four soloists.
