Marcel Tabuteau, distinguished oboe soloist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, will be the soloist at the concerts next Friday afternoon and Saturday evening in the Academy of Music, Eugene Ormandy conducting. Mr. Tabuteau will also be the soloist at the New York concert of Tuesday, November 7. He will play Mozart’s quartet for oboe and strings rescored by Leopold Stokowski for oboe and orchestral accompaniment.
This is the first of five concerts during the season at which members of the Orchestra will be the soloists. Other numbers at the concerts next week will be a suite from Henry Purcell’s opera, “Dido and Aeneas, transcribed for large orchestra by Lucien Cailliet, and Cesar Franck’s ever-popular Symphony in D Minor.
