Excerpt from French Government Yearbook

The following is an excerpt (p. 894) from a yearbook of government-certified teachers in France. It presents Marcel Tabuteau, following his 1904 graduation from the Paris Conservatoire, available to give oboe lessons in his hometown of Compiègne during the year 1905. Although it is pretty incredible that at the age of 18 Tabuteau should have been so honored, in France, once one had one’s Premier Prix in music, dance or theatre, one was basically accorded this right de rigeur, regardless of one’s age. Tabuteau’s brother-in-law, Émile Létoffé, a violinist, is also listed.
