The Casals photograph below was autographed for Tabuteau at the Prades Bach Festival in the summer of 1950. The inscription translates:
“To Tabuteau: to the artist, the man
and the friend, with my deep thanks
and affection. No one admires you
more than Pau Casals.
Bach Festival, Prades 1950”

With the passing of Wilbur Isaac Hilles in August 2023 and now Martha Scherer-Alfee in February 2024, no oboe students of Marcel Tabuteau at the Curtis Institute are still living.
