These three photographs of David Ledet, Laila Storch and Dwight Manning examining Tabuteau material in 2008 were sent for inclusion on this website by Dr. Manning. His accompanying comments are below:
Dear Mr. Mostovoy, thank you for your wonderful curation of the Marcel Tabuteau website, and for including a portion of the article David Ledet: Music Educator, Scholar, Editor, Curator. Whitney Holley and Dwight Manning. The Double Reed. Vol. 35, No. 3 (2012): pp. 111-133. https://www.idrs.org/publications/127-the-double-reed-2012-35-3/#page=112.
I’ve been reflecting on our great loss of Laila Storch and respectfully submit the attached photos (jpg & pdf) of her examining Tabuteau memorabilia in the basement of David Ledet’s Provo Utah Home in 2008. The full article with bibliography of his collection is available in the public domain here.
In the article, I did not reveal the fact that Dr. Ledet was seriously considering donating that entire collection to Brigham Young University, the host of the IDRS 2008 conference, or the Eastman School of Music where he did his doctoral work. Fortunately, I was able to convince him to donate this invaluable collection to the University of Georgia where he had served as Director of the School of Music, and where I was employed at the time. I believe the collection remains available for researchers in the Special Collections Library
Feel free to add these historic photos and my comments to your invaluable site.
with appreciation,
Dwight Manning
